Message from the President of the 2nd Macedonian Congress of Immunology

I found the place and the time for organizing the Second Macedonian Immunological Congress especially inspirative for participants.

Ohrid, the city of UNESCO in this millennium celebrates 1090 years of rest of St. Naum, the closest collaborator of St. Kliment Ohridski, and both together, followers of Slovene teachers St. Kiril and Metodij.

This will be an opportunity for achievements of Macedonian immuno-allergology to be presented and critically evaluated, and also an opportunity for presentation of obligations taken on our previous gatherings: First Macedonian Immunological Congress (1996) and Macedonian Immunological Days (1998). This, at first place refers to National consensus on allergic rhinitis (May, 1999) published by the Society for Basic, Clinical Immunology and Allergology, and the National Consensus on bronchial asthma prepared (December, 1999), among the others, by four experts who are members of the Executive Committee of our society. This two consensuses, developed by European standards, represent an initiative for sooner integration of Macedonian immunology in European and world trends, but also our obligation.

Yet, this is no place for self-satisfaction, it is only a chance for our professional information to be exchanged and updated.

Message from the President of the Organizing Committee of the 2-nd Macedonian Congress of Immunology

The development of immunology as integral science of the defence system grows exponentially in the field of studies of mechanisms of acting, cell to cell cooperation, molecular immunology, understanding of the diseases and possibilities for their treatment. World scientists are rapidly bringing together their capacities, knowledge and information to achieve this mutual aims.

The Second Macedonian Congress of Immunology will take place in Ohrid, in the beginning of the Second millennium. Their participation confirmed immunologists from all Balkan countries and other European countries. The papers announced for debate from competent lecturers reflect the actual research and the application of immunological findings.

I invite everyone who is willing to get closer with basic and clinical immunology to join us in Ohrid in purpose to interchange our knowledge and experience.
